Create, Connect and Craft in Nature's Embrace.
Experience the perfect blend of tranquility and creativity in our pottery classes held in both a serene Japanese-style garden and a relaxing conservatory.
Meet the Team
Steve has many years experience of teaching both adults and children, in an educational enviroment and also at own premises.
Claire has worked as a Special Educational Needs, Teaching Assistant in Swindon Schools since 2010 and has been involved in many art and craft projects.
Claire now runs our pottery experience days and workshops.
We are set up to produce our own ceramic creations and continue to offer teaching skills to those who would like to create their own artistic artefacts.
Pagoda Pottery
Here is a selection of our work
Raku
The newest addition to our studio is a professionally built, stainless steel, top- hat, gas kiln. The kiln is operated by a counter weight and housed in a purpose built, timber and tile pagoda, for operation and protection from the elements.
Studio pottery
In our studio we have 2 wheels for throwing and a large upright electric kiln. This allows the production of a variety of wares using earthenware, stoneware and porcelain clays.
Teaching
We can offer one to one teaching or small groups, covering all types of ceramics including throwing pots, slab ware, sculptural and other skills needed to produce a high standard of work.
Pottery Courses
We provide short, starter courses for people who are interested in learning the necessary skills and techniques in order to develop their artistic skills in this medium. This involves making clay objects and bisque firing. This can be followed with glazing techniques and a glaze firing.
School Courses: We provide ‘Pottery Experience’ short courses for school. We have the necessary experience and required legal documentation to operate these activities.
Further development
For those who are keen to develop their skills, we provide extended courses. These include:
Throwing (with the opportunity to carry the process through to a finished glazed product)
Slab pot making
Raku
Clay sculpture and model making.
Open Studios
We can hold open studio days, where students can display their work to the public.
It will give the opportunity to view an exhibition of local art and have artisans working and demonstrating pottery making.
